This year marks the second annual Rare Bird award—an award for distinguished contributions to best practices in the management of information development. The Rare Bird award was presented to Charlotte Robidoux, Patrick Waychoff, and Bobbi Gibson on behalf of the Hewlett-Packard DocKeeper Process Efficiency team at this year’s Best Practices Conference in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The award reads:

The Center for Information-Development Management, Inc.

of information development

Presented at the
Best Practices Conference

September 2005

The decision to award the Rare Bird this year to Charlotte and the Hewlett-Packard team was by no means easy. Superb applications were received from BMC Software, Cadence Design Systems, Microsoft Corporation, and Motorola. We encourage everyone to consider submitting an application describing your innovation for next year’s award program.

I want to thank the judging panel for their excellent work. Led by Sue King, CIDM associate, panel members included Debbie Rosenquist (Dell retired), Christopher Gales (WindRiver), Julie Bradbury (BMC Software retired), and Jonathan Price, CIDM associate. I also want to thank our CIDM Advisory Council-Palmer Pearson (Cadence Design Systems), Daphne Walmer (Medtronic), Diane Davis (Synopsys), Glenn D’Amore (ADP) and Bill Gearhart (BMC Software) for their support and encouragement throughout the year. Once again, we have had a highly successful year of building the community of professional managers and learning from all our colleagues in the field of information development.
